Sick At Home

Well, I am home sick with a pretty bad case of strep throat, so I thought I would post some new pictures. I mean, I'm usually at home a lot anyway to post stuff, but now that I have been here all day every day for awhile, I figured I should add to the blog.

Here are some pictures of Cory's volleyball league. Every Friday after classes are out, students from every semester go out to a beach near the Marriott that has a couple volleyball courts on the sand, and they play a few games. It is a pretty organized league, with a more advanced A group, and a more laid back B group. Cory's team is in the B group. (I've seen the A group play...it reminds me of my days playing against difficult teams in high school...they are really good!)

After each game is done, everyone pretty much heads down to the water to wash off all of the sand and hang out. The league mostly consists of students, but I am Cory's teams' back-up player, in case someone else can't make it. I played in one game so far, it was pretty fun. Brought back memories of playing in high school. And it is always fun when you get to dive for a ball into the sand! Except last time I played, while I was rinsing off all the sand in the ocean, a crab pinched my big toe! What the heck? I thought they are supposed to be scared of us?!

We were all getting ready to leave last time, as the sun was starting to set, and we noticed this pretty cloud that was reflecting the colors of the sunset, so I had to snap a few pictures.

A week or so ago, we got to see our first cruise ship pull into port. Apparently, during the busy season, they pull in every other day and you get a bit sick of all the tourists. But since this was the first one we have seen, it was kind of cool to be able to see it so well from our balcony. It was a Disney cruise ship, and it only stayed for the day. As it pulled back out to sea, it blasted its horn, which echoed throughout the entire bay. And what did the horn sound like? It played the first line of "When you wish upon a star". I was laughing so hard when I heard it. Here is what it looked like from our house:

And finally, Cory and I took a drive to the end of the island in our new car the other day, to see how it handled the long road. We saw a few monkeys along the side of the road:

And a family of cows decided to block the road for us on the way home:

You never know what is going to be in the road around here! That's it for now. Hopefully I'll start feeling better soon, and I'll be able to get back out there and take more pictures to share with everyone.
